I won't tell you how old my mother is, but I'm nearly fifty.
Last year, she helped me buy a new desktop by buying my old one for basic research. Not content to just use it occasionally, she went to classes to learn how to use Word and Excel. Next year, she's going for a course on the internet and CLAIT.
On Sunday, I connected her up to the internet for the first time. She loves it. It's a whole new world! And, despite her health problems, unlike many of her friends of the same age, she's really enjoying the learning experience, even if the lessons do come from her sixteen-year-old grandson!!!
Now, I'm not very good at the slushy stuff; I can't always say what I feel. But I think she should know how proud I am of her, learning all these new things at her age. I know she's not the only one of her age group and she's certainly not the oldest person ever to take a course. But I'm still proud of her achievements.
So, I've created a new
Haiku especially for her. It's on
my Haiku page, but I've also put it here.
My MotherThey live, learn, and age,
Old friends sadly vegetate.
You age, learn, and live.
